Passing Score: 80%
Minimum Age to Apply: 15 years old
Documents Needed
- Proof of Identity. Birth certificate, U.S. passport, certificate of naturalization
- Proof of Legal Presence / Citizenship. Immigration documents (if non-citizen)
- Proof of Social Security Number. Social Security card, W-2, pay stub, SSA-1099
- Proof of Residency / Address. Utility bill, lease/mortgage statement, school record, bank statement
- Proof of Driver Education / Enrollment. For minors, certificate of completion or proof of enrollment in state-approved driver education
- Parental / Guardian Consent. If under 18
- Fee Payment. The application / permit / licensing fee
- Vision / Eye Exam. In-office vision screening at DMV / licensing office
What happens if I don’t pass the test?
You may retake the test, but with limitations:
• You cannot attempt the written exam more than three times in one year.
• If you fail, you can retake as soon as the next day.
